Dr. Vinod Ravindran received his undergraduate medical education (MBBS) from MGM Medical College, Indore and post-graduation in internal medicine (MD) from SMS Medical College, Jaipur, India. His further training was in the UK where he was awarded the MRCP (UK) by the Royal College of Physicians. Dr. Ravindran had rheumatology specialist training at London and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training CCT-Rheumatology (UK) by the Postgraduate Medical Education & Training Board of the UK.
He also undertook MSc-Rheumatology from the King’s College in London, UK. He subsequently passed SCE-Rheumatology and was awarded MRCP- Rheumatology (UK) by the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board of UK. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP) in 2011.
Career
As a rheumatology specialist registrar, he worked in the prestigious rheumatology units of King’s College and St. George’s university hospitals in London. Before relocating to Kerala, he had worked as a consultant rheumatologist at Ipswich and Maidstone, UK. Currently, he is the Director of Centre for Rheumatology at Calicut, Kerala.
Teaching
Dr. Ravindran has extensive teaching experience and has taught medical students from various London and the Cambridge medical schools. He has also been an examiner for the Guy’s Kings’ and St. Thomas’ (GKT) school of Medicine, London. He was appointed as the Assistant Professor of Rheumatology at the MES Medical College, Perinthalmanna (2011-2014) and continues to teach rheumatology at the Centre for Rheumatology at Calicut, Kerala.

He has more than 100 scientific publications in the leading international rheumatology journals. His research work is regularly presented as scientific papers in the American (ACR), British (BSR), European (EULAR), and Indian (IRA) and annual rheumatology meetings.
